Title Earthquake Catalog and Seismic Event Dataset for Investigating Seismicity and Crustal Structure in the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis
Creator Jin-Zhi Ma
Subject Earthquake catalog; Seismic waveforms
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description To investigate the seismicity and crustal structure of the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis, we constructed a high-resolution earthquake catalog using machine-learning-based phase picking and template-matching detection methods. This catalog enables detailed analyses of the spatial distribution, temporal evolution, and potential driving mechanisms of regional seismic activity. The dataset is derived from broadband seismic waveforms recorded by stations deployed by the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from March 2023 to March 2024. A total of 11,560 high-precision earthquake events were identified. Three-component waveforms were recorded at a sampling rate of 10 Hz, and event windows were extracted for each detected event. All waveform files are organized in directories following the structure: ~/YYMMDDHHMMSS/Net.Station.Component (e.g., ~/20231129063119.25/XZ.M03.BHZ).

Type Three-component (*HZ, *HN, *HE) seismic waveform data for each event in SAC format. Essential metadata—including station locations (STLA, STLO), event hypocenters (EVLA, EVLO, EVDP), sampling rate (DELTA), and number of samples (NPTS)—are stored in the SAC headers.
Format SAC files can be read directly using SAC, ObsPy, MATLAB, etc.
