Title Tree-ring oxygen isotopes data of historic timbers from the Forbidden City

Description We collected tree ring samples from replaced roof timbers of the Jiutian Yingyuan Leitan Hall of Dagaoxuan Hall complex in the Forbidden City. Chemical extraction of α-cellulose used the modified plate method (Xu et al., 2013). We measured the oxygen isotope ratios of three cores (DGXD-12, DGXD-15, DGXD-16). Tree-ring cellulose oxygen isotope ratios (18O/16O) were measured with an isotope ratio mass spectrometer (Delta V Advantage, Thermo Scientific, Germany), coupled to a pyrolysis-type, high-temperature conversion elemental analyzer (Flash HT, Thermo Scientific, Germany) at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China.
