Title Results of direct shear test and 3D laser scanning
Creator Guangming Luo
Subject Mechanical and morphological data
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description Direct shear tests on granite rock bridge were carried out at the Key Laboratory of Shale Gas and Geoengineering, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The granite sample were acquired from a quarry in Suizhou City, Hunan Province of China. The morphology of failure surfaces in rock bridges were obtained by 3D laser scanner (Creaform Handyscan 3D VIUscan, made in Canada, with a maximum resolution of 0.1 mm).
This dataset includes:
1. Shear mechanical parameters (the peak shear strength, the residual shear strength the breakdown stress drop, the breakdown stress drop, the residual shear strength, the shear stiffness, and the peak shear displacement) obtained by direct shear test at different shear rates in mechanical parameters.xlsx.
2. Morphological parameters of failure surface (the fractal dimension, the undulation, the apparent dip angle, and the extensive 3D fractal dimension) at different shear rates in morphological parameters.xlsx.
3. Data of apparent dip angle of failure surface at different shear rates in apparent dip angle.xlsx.
4. Dip angle data for rock bridges at different loading rates in dip angle data-loading rate.xlsx.
5. Dip angle data for rock bridges and intact rock at a shear rate of 0.01 mm/s in dip angle data-rock bridge&intact rock.xlsx.
6. Point cloud data obtained by scanning the failure surfaces in all the TXT files named with point cloud. 3D Coordinate data model of failure surfaces can be constructed with the x-y-z coordinates data (x-the first column, y-the second column, z-the fifth column) in these files. Point cloud 1-5 are failure surfaces of rock bridge at a shear rate of 0.001 mm/s, 0.01 mm/s, 0.1 mm/s, 1 mm/s, 10 mm/s, respectively; Point cloud 6 is the failure surface of rock bridge at a shear rate of 0.01mm/s (at peak shear displacement); Point cloud 7-8 is the failure surfaces of intact rock at a shear rate of 0.01mm/s, at peak shear displacement and at final displacement, respectively.
