Title Magnetotelluric data and model across the Yinchuan-Jilantai Rift System
Creator Xin Li
Subject Broadband magnetotelluric data and 3-D electrical resistivity model
Publisher Xiukuan Zhao
Description To illuminate the deep thermal, fluid and magmatic processes beneath the Yinchuan-Jilantai Rift System (YJRS), 40 broadband magnetotelluric (MT) sites were deployed in 2019 to image the deep electrical structure along a profile across the YJRS. This profile starts on the western Ordos Block and extends northwestward across the YJRS into the northern part of the Alxa Block. Two electric field and three magnetic field, were recorded at each site, using Phoenix MTU-5A instruments. Modern remote-reference, robust time series processing techniques were used to estimate MT impedance tensors and vertical magnetic transfer functions. These data were jointly inverted using an updated version of the 3-D MT inversion package ModEM. After 109 iterations, the final resistivity model yields a RMS misfit value of 1.41, which represents an 91% reduction in data residual relative to the starting model (initial RMS of 15.90).
Submitted datasets include: Observed impedance and tipper data; Final 3-D resistivity model; Predicted impedance and tipper data.
