Description To gain a better knowledge of the crustal and mantle structures beneath northeastern and eastern Iran, we deployed a linear seismic array with 65 broadband stations operating from July 2015 to October 2016 under the “China-Iran Geological and Geophysical Survey in the Iranian Plateau (CIGSIP)” project. Most part of this array (53 stations) ran roughly N-S from the Kopeh Dagh in the north to the Lut block in the south while the rest part (12 stations) traversed the Lut desert in an ENE-WSW orientation. The average interstation spacing is ~15km. All the portable stations in our experiment were equipped with Trillium 120PA seismometers (120 s - 175 Hz) and Taurus digital seismographs. The selected S-RF waveforms are provided in the database. Teleseismic events for direct S phases with magnitudes ≥5.0 and epicentral distances of 55°-85° were considered. To compute the S-RF, the originally recorded Z-N-E components were first rotated to the Z-R-T coordinate system and windowed from 100 s before to 20 s after the S phase arrival. Then, time-domain maximum entropy method and a Gaussian parameter of 2.5 were employed in the deconvolution. The waveforms provided here are not filtered after deconvolution. The time-axis and polarity of S-RF waveforms have already been reversed. The windowed Z-N-E components used for calculating the S-RF are also provided in this Data Repository.

Type The S-wave receiver functions (S-RF) are stored with a sampling rate of 12.5 Hz and a length of 120 sec (-20 sec to 100 sec). The time zero refers to the direct S-wave. The three-component waveforms are stored with a sampling rate of 50 Hz and a length of 120 sec (0 sec to 120 sec). The time arrival at 100 sec refers to the direct S-wave.
Format All the S-RF data are stored in SAC format with suffix ‘.eqz’. In the head list of each SAC file, necessary information such as locations of the station (STLA: latitude; STLO: longitude; STEL: elevation) and earthquake (EVLA, EVLO, EVDP), sampling interval (DELTA), number of sampling points (NTPS) has been given. The windowed Z-N-E (.bhz, .bhn, .bhe) components used for calculating the S-RF are also provided in this Data Repository. Related parameters have been written into the head list of three-component SAC files, which is similar to the case of S-RF data. These standard SAC formats can be read using SAC, Obspy, MATLAB, et al.
